General Information
Can I store my boat in the CYC's yard?
CYC will make as many spots available as needed. Boats may arrive up to a month before the event, and leave up to two weeks afterwards, there may be some storage fees involved for the longer durations.
Can I leave my boat overnight on the club's jetty?
Yes, a fair few of the local sailors tend to leave their boats in the water, especially on the Friday night after the night race. CYC could fit an additional 3-4 boats on the finger wharf, Sailability jetty and the L wharf. You could easily fit another 4-6 boats over night on the long launching finger wharf over by the lotus bay launching ramps.
What about a mooring if there is no jetty space?
There are 3 moorings available and a 4th could be secured if there is demand.
Can I leave my boat overnight in the Lotus bay jetty at the boatramp?
CYC is seeking permission from the NCA to do this for the Friday and Saturday nights, in any case we would need to leave enough room for public to launch.
Can I leave my boat on the trailer parked in lotus bay or the area across the road?
Yes, this is a public area, however you do so at your own risk.
Can I sleep on board if the boat is on the trailer in Lotus bay?
This is essentially camping in a public area, which many trailable sailors do when at regattas. Technically you may be asked to move on.
Can I sleep on board if my boat is at anchor or on a mooring?
Technically no, the NCA are sensitive to things like effluent being released from boats, however when CYC hosted the careel nationals they all did at it was fine and worked well. CYC put them all stern in around the southern dinghy/cat rigging area. This may be the best answer for those wanting to stay on their boats, although getting them all stern in in the dark on the Friday night might be a challenge.
Do I need a permit for using a petrol outboard while visiting canberra for this event?
Officially yes. CYC think it would be better if they submitted them in a batch. Regatta entrants will receive further information about this.
